The official York Croquet Club website
York Croquet Club is a small, friendly club playing the Queen of Games in the heart of Yorkshire. New members are always very welcome. Join us!
York Croquet Club began life in 1988 and meets on the Club’s croquet lawns at Scarcroft Green, Scarcroft Road, York. A number of our members are qualified coaches and we offer taster sessions and introductory courses for those wanting to explore the delights of this absorbing game. There are no special requirements other than flat-soled footwear. All equipment is supplied.
Because croquet relies on strategy not strength, it can be played on equal terms by male and female alike and by people of any age. The playing season runs from April to September; a social programme keeps us together during the winter months. We are lucky enough to have three of the best croquet lawns in Yorkshire and two small practice lawns.
We hope this website answers some of the questions you may have. If you would like to find out more about the game of croquet or about York Croquet Club, please ring the Chairman, John Harris, 01904 620211, or the Secretary, Alison Larard, 01759 368123, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will do all we can to help.
Top-flight croquet comes to York this weekend, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May, when England Ladies challenge Yorkshire on the York Croquet Club grounds. Visitors welcome free of charge 10 am to 4 pm each day – three simultaneous matches – tea and home-made cake being served – come and go as you please!
